About Roots and Repairs

Roots and Repairs is a new pilot project designed to support ethnic minority men to socialise, reduce isolation and rediscover a sense of purpose. Through meaningful activities, practical skill sharing and a space for connection, conversation, and improved wellbeing.

We are now looking for a dedicated and motivated Project Lead to take the project forward someone who understands the needs of our communities and is passionate about creating inclusive spaces where men feel valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

-Lead the development and delivery of the Roots and Repairs pilot project
-Promote the project locally through outreach, taster sessions, social media, and community engagement
-Build trusted relationships with ethnic minority men, encouraging participation and co-creating activities
-Work closely with the wider staff team, volunteers, and partners to deliver a meaningful programme
-Organise and facilitate hands-on practical sessions that promote wellbeing and connection
-Gather and record monitoring and impact data, and produce regular reports
-Signpost participants to other relevant services, opportunities, or support as needed
-Identify opportunities to work in partnership with local men’s groups and community organisations

Person Specification Essential:

-Strong interpersonal and community engagement skills
-Experience working in community settings or with grassroots groups
-Ability to take initiative and lead on project development
-Good organisational and communication skills
-Fluent in a community language such as Urdu, Hindi or Punjabi-Confident using social media for promotion and engagement

Desirable:

-Lived experience of the issues facing ethnic minority men
-Experience in delivering practical activities or hands-on workshops
-Knowledge of local community networks in Glasgow
-Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings or weekends

We’re looking for someone with lived experience, a community language, cultural awareness, and a good understanding of different faiths. You’ll be friendly, a good listener, and able to encourage men to get involved. A current driving licence is essential.

This role is hands-on and creative, supporting men to share skills, repair and upcycle items, and build social connections.

Interviews will take place week beginning 16 September 2025.
